Initiatives · School Safety

Every classroom a safe room

Students who feel protected can focus on their future instead of their fear. We help schools make that real — physically, practically, and emotionally.

How the initiative works

School violence changed what it means to send a kid to class. The Vince Young Foundation believes safety is the first condition of education — and that it takes more than a locked front door. Our School Safety Initiative works on three fronts at once.

1

Safe-room technology

We advocate for and help implement classroom hardening — technology and infrastructure that can turn an ordinary classroom into a secure space in the event of an active threat.

2

Law-enforcement partnership

We connect schools with local law enforcement to build customized safety plans, so every campus is prepared for an emergency before one happens.

3

Mental-health support

Security is more than walls. We help schools support the emotional well-being of students and staff, because a safe school is one where kids are okay on the inside too.

Why Vince cares about this

School was where Vince Young's coaches and teachers saw what his neighborhood couldn't promise him — a future. If kids are afraid in those rooms, everything else the foundation does comes second.

That's why school safety leads our work: protect the room where a kid's life gets changed.

Make your school safer.

Administrators and districts — tell us about your campus and we'll talk through what's possible.
